On 28th May 2023, the Oil Salvage team will climb Ben Nevis to raise money for The Honeysuckle Bereavement Service at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

In July 2022, we raised over £700 by climbing Snowdon for Trinity Hospice.

Before 2022, Oil Salvage had never climbed a mountain, and this May we are taking our hiking journey one step further. Compliance Manager Neil Redmond has organised a weekend-long trip to climb Ben Nevis to raise money for The Honeysuckle Bereavement Fund.

This branch of Liverpool Women’s Hospital is dedicated to helping families grieving the loss of children and pregnancies. Every day 13 babies die soon or during birth in the UK and 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage.

This is a cause close to the team’s heart. The Honeysuckle Bereavement Service has directly helped multiple Oil Salvage employees navigate the difficult grieving process. Transport Coordinator David Bell selected this cause to thank the hospital on behalf of his colleagues. He has seen a noticeable improvement in his friends after they have engaged with the service.

Our climb will bring together all our departments. Drivers, yard workers, lab techs, transport coordinators, and office staff have sacrificed their May bank holiday weekend for the cause.

This comes after a year of successful fundraising, including our involvement in Christmas Jumper Day, our Ramble Walk for Children in Need, and our cake sale for DEC’s Ukraine Appeal.

Watch our team climb Snowdon at night in July 2022.
