Everton crash out of the League Cup to Bournemouth in poor fashion.

Everton were well and truly beaten 4-1 at Bournemouth to get dumped out of the League Cup in just the third round.

The Toffees went in at half-time one nil down and in the second half they conceded very quickly to make it 2-0 with a goal from Junior Stanislas.

Demarai Gray got one back for the away side but two quick fire goals when Everton were chasing the game sealed Bournemouth’s place in the next round draw.

Frank Lampard decided to make 11 changes for the game even though there is only one game before a month break for the majority of his players due to the winter World Cup.

In the opening ten minutes Everton’s makeshift 11 went one down due to Jason Lowe’s deflected effort looping over Asmir Begovic, who was the captain on the night.

Tom Davies had a fantastic chance to equalise shortly after though as he was slipped in on goal but his strike was all wrong as it went high and wide when it looked easier to slot into the bottom corner.

Both sides struggled to make anymore clear opportunities in the first half but three minutes into the second Bournemouth doubled their advantage.

Begovic passed it out to Mason Holgate who slipped allowing Ryan Christie to get the ball and put it across the six-yard box for a Stanislas tap-in after Jaidonl Anthony swung at the ball.

After the second goal Lampard reacted by making a triple substitution and one of the men he brought on Demarai Gray and he scored with a lovely curling effort to make a game of it with 20 minutes to go.

However, Emiliano Marcondes put any hopes of a comeback to bed tapping in a rebound then a few minutes after that the score line got embarrassing for The Blues with Anthony getting on the scoresheet after some diabolical defending.

Everton have Bournemouth again on the weekend at The Vitality and if they lose again Lampard will be grateful that the World Cup gives him five weeks without another game as the pressure will be on the former Chelsea legend.
